The League of Friends

Formed in 1998, the League of Friends currently has over 150 members from all over the world.

The volunteers arrange various fundraising activities including the spectacular sound and light show every Guy Fawkes night, along with classic car shows and other events.

They also supply a marquee hire service to local people/events at a very competitive rate.

“Without their efforts and financial assistance many of the improvements at Rudyard Lake would not have been possible…”

In 2004 the League purchased the trip boat ‘Honey’, a diesel powered 1942 captain’s cutter launch which had been lovingly restored by its previous owner.

The trip boat has a fully trained volunteer crew and carries up to twelve passengers; it operates at weekends throughout the summer months but private bookings can be made at any time of the year. A live narrative accompanies the scenic cruises.

The Friends’ volunteers support both Rudyard Lake Ltd and The Rudyard Lake Trust; without their efforts and financial assistance many of the improvements at Rudyard Lake would not have been possible.

We are always encouraging new members to join us and membership forms are available by contacting us.

Hi. I'm a volunteer who has been visiting Rudyard Lake weekly, for the last 16 years. I previously worked in the pharmaceutical industry but following retirement i enjoy the lake and its surroundings where I help out the ranger with repairs and upkeep.
