Thanks to support funding from Heritage Lottery, Advantage West Midlands, The Rudyard Lake League of Friends and the family of the late Frank Bradley of Rudyard, The Rudyard Lake Trust are pleased to advise that reconstruction and renovation works are now well underway despite the wet summer.
Reconstruction and renovation work at the boathouse is now well underway
This is the oldest boathouse on Rudyard Lake constructed in 1850 and over the years had fallen into disrepair with its grand arch and stepped gable being lost after some 50 years of its original construction.
Just a few of our many volunteers busy with the restoration work
Thanks to the kind support the restoration work is now well underway and before the end of 2008 the building will become a museum based on the boating history of Rudyard, a centre of innovation self sufficient in its own power for heat and light using the latest technology, and will serve as an educational area for schools and the lakes many thousands of visitors each year.
